Autumn has come to Southern California. In January.
I noticed it at the end of last week: the trees lining the streets in a neighboring town had turned bright orange. Like October. And near our house, yellow trees and some red ones too.
I’ve never seen this before. At least not here. And I realized why all the trees in our neighborhood are dropping their leaves three months too late: it is finally cold enough. For the past 2 weeks it hasn’t really climbed above 60 degrees during the day, which, for us is quite cool. So the trees think that fall has finally come.
I looked outside this morning and the maple tree on the other side of our backyard fence decided to drop all of its brownish-orange leaves on our psuedo-lawn (just ask Chad about our pitiful grass).
So when everyone else in the country is “enjoying” icy roads and sleet, we are finally getting our fall.
Let’s just hope it doesn’t snow in April.

so so strange to me…
I’m jealous! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. My little corner of Washington has been unusually buried in snow the past few weeks and I greatly miss the gentleness of autumn as opposed to the harshness of winter.
Lucky lady!
aren’t weather patterns just crazy?!?
it was near 80 here in texas yesterday and tomorrow freezing rain with a high of 40 is predicted.
enjoy your autumn weather!
You’re lucky! I love Fall. Gray January, not so much.
