And now I’m doing it.
And to be honest I haven’t watched Oprah since I was on bedrest pregnant with my OLDEST daughter 8 years ago.
Anyhoo…
If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time then you will know that I’m not really a giveaway girl. I’ve given away books written by my friends and acquaintances in the last year, but I’ve never done anything like I will be doing in the next six weeks.
Don’t have a heart attack. I’m not giving away cameras or refrigerators.
But every Monday from now until the end of the year, I will be hosting a giveaway. Yes, that’s right. Every Monday. Like clockwork. (Or as regular as jogging regimen used to be before I started writing a book…) And they will be MY FAVORITE THINGS. Sorta like Oprah.
And since I’m not in the giveaway circuit, most (not all) of the things I get to give to you I will be purchasing myself. Some have been donated and I’ll make sure you know when someone has been gracious enough to donate something to my readers.
So to launch this My Favorite Things: Six Weeks of Free Stuff series, I’m giving you one of my personal favorite things. A necklace by Lisa Leonard. She just has been generous enough to donate one of her brand new Paper Lantern necklaces to one of my readers.
Not only is Lisa one of my favorite people, but her unique jewelry is some of my favorite to wear. I’m not glamorous or overstated, so for me her pieces are the perfect amount of jewelry around my neck. I have one to giveaway here this week and the winner will be able to personalize it with the names they choose (yours won’t say “chad” “hope” and “naomi” because if it did, that would be weird).

I am so very thankful that God patiently waits, boldly comes, and graciously stays. He waited for me ever so patiently for 25 years to realize my need for a Savior. He sent His Holy Spirit to boldly wake me up and He never leaves me. Even when I am acting like a brat, He stays.

Though I’ve always been a huge lover of Thanksgiving, I’m ever so thankful to have already celebrated ours (Canadian) in October and can now concentrate on preparing for a different and special Christmas this year for our family!

Thanks again for your wonderful blog. This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for my husband and boys. But most of all I am thankful that God has granted me another Thanksgiving with my mom. She has been sick for over a year. It maybe a little bit selfish, but she is my best friend.
I am thankful for God giving me a loving, patient husband who is not only my best friend but also my partner in ministry.
I am thankful for my husband…through my grandfather’s funeral, car accident on the way home from said funeral, and a bad case of shingles, he has not complained one bit this month, and has stepped up to do more than his share of parenting, household stuff, and being patient with me.
It is hard to write just one thing, I have so many things to be thankful for. Mostly, I am thankful for God’s saving grace!
Though it’s raining & miserable outside, I am so thankful for shelter & provision. Here I am, snuggled up & cozy with my precious family – in the 9 months since the company my husband worked for downsized, we have truly seen God’s hand move on our behalf. Though our future is not clear, we are certain that He will continue to keep us. And every single day, I have been so grateful for a comfortable place and that we’ve not lacked in any way. I can honestly say, that because of His grace & love, we have been more joy-filled & close as a family. God is good! All the time, God is good! Miki
I love Lisa’s jewelry! I bought my mom one of her necklaces for Christmas last year and she loves it.
Right this minute, I’m very thankful for beautiful family photos done by a pro – worth every penny!
I absolutely LOVE her jewelry – and I cannot even tell you how much i have to be thankful for. I’m especially aware of it this year as I’m spending time with the kids I work with in downtown Atlanta – we are so so blessed!!!

When they slip into my hands because the words a little to scarey
When they tangle themselves in my hair because they are sleepy
When they help me make chocolate chip cookies and put to much flour in the batter…
When they proudly make letters for the first time, or make me a flower out of pipe cleaners.
Little hands remind me of my purpose and my WHY in life.
I have told my sons since they were tiny “Gentlemen have gentle hands – and all my sons are gentlemen” I love my tiny little gentlemen = with their gentle hands…holding mine as we skip down the street. I thank good for them.
I’m thankful for so much- a wonderful Heavenly Father, earthly father, and the father of my children, my sweet husband – all of them love me more than I deserve.

I am thankful for the things I take for granted every day…the little things that without would make life difficult, sight…the ability to hear and walk and reach without pain. I am thankful that a man fell in love with me, even though I didn’t have the confidence to believe a man ever would and then God blessed me even more when it was true, unconditional love. I am the thankful for the ability to have children and God blessed me not once, but 4 times over. I am thankful for God’s grace. He directed my husband and I to do something big a year ago and because of my own personal fear and feelings of inadequacy I didn’t follow through. A bit like Jonah actually…I ran away and convinced myself it was OK. Well, one year later we are following through. He has given us another opportunity to do this thing, and over the past 12 months He has drawn us closer, healed things in our marriage, and taught me so much about trust..and faith..and forgiveness. I am overwhelmed by His goodness. I am so thankful for second chances and for a God who NEVER gives up on me.

I am thankful for the love of a fantastic and wonderful husband, my amazing children who have all grown into awesome adults. I am also thankful that my mom is still alive to spend at least one more holiday season with us.

I am very, very thankful for a loving heavenly Father that is with us through this life! Praise Him that my husbands recent diagnosis of leukemia comes at a time in history that there are new drugs that should be able to keep him healthy and alive! I am so thankful that such a loving God took a drug addicted broken girl with several issues, gave me faith to make it through an abusive relationship. I became a single mother to two little girls, and to God be the glory!! My children are loving little girls with the light of Jesus shining strong. I have no idea how we made it through the last three years….but I am glad we did!
I am also thankful for blogs like this to show the world that God isn’t looking for perfect people

thankful to have my college boy home for a week, my college bound girl so excited about the possibilities ahead, a four year old who makes the holidays so fun and a husband who makes me smile at the mere thought of him.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to go to grad school. Well, and that I could go to college as well. Education is a great privilege and I’m thankful for it.
I’m also thankful for my two basset hounds. They are my heart! haha
I am so thankful that God has abundantly blessed me over and over! I am able to have both my children and my husband all together for the holiday. I am thankful both my husband and myself have jobs and we are able to pay our bills. I’m thankful that even though we live on way less money than before, it helps us be more dependent on God to meet our needs! I’m thankful that God sometimes uses me to help plant seeds in people’s lives so they might find eternal life and life more abundantly!
