Oprah does it.
And now I’m doing it.
And to be honest I haven’t watched Oprah since I was on bedrest pregnant with my OLDEST daughter 8 years ago.
Anyhoo…
If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time then you will know that I’m not really a giveaway girl. I’ve given away books written by my friends and acquaintances in the last year, but I’ve never done anything like I will be doing in the next six weeks.
Don’t have a heart attack. I’m not giving away cameras or refrigerators.
But every Monday from now until the end of the year, I will be hosting a giveaway. Yes, that’s right. Every Monday. Like clockwork. (Or as regular as jogging regimen used to be before I started writing a book…) And they will be MY FAVORITE THINGS. Sorta like Oprah.
And since I’m not in the giveaway circuit, most (not all) of the things I get to give to you I will be purchasing myself. Some have been donated and I’ll make sure you know when someone has been gracious enough to donate something to my readers.
So to launch this My Favorite Things: Six Weeks of Free Stuff series, I’m giving you one of my personal favorite things. A necklace by Lisa Leonard. She just has been generous enough to donate one of her brand new Paper Lantern necklaces to one of my readers.
Not only is Lisa one of my favorite people, but her unique jewelry is some of my favorite to wear. I’m not glamorous or overstated, so for me her pieces are the perfect amount of jewelry around my neck. I have one to giveaway here this week and the winner will be able to personalize it with the names they choose (yours won’t say “chad” “hope” and “naomi” because if it did, that would be weird).
To enter, leave a comment telling me one thing you are thankful for (this being Thanksgiving week, I thought that would be appropriate). Please, one comment only per person and the comments will be open until 9pm Pacific Time on Wednesday.
I’ll announce the winner at the end of the week.
Oh, I’m so excited! Are you?

I am so thankful for my church! I just moved out of state four months ago and found this place, and they have embraced me and loved me more than I could ever imagine or even deserve! God is so good!
I’m thankful for my boyfriend of 8 months. He has been a tremendous addition to my life so far, and I hope will continue to add to it for a long time to come.
I’m thankful that my family all lives in one state and that we can celebrate each holiday together.
I am thankful for my family. Because God is constantly showing me His love threw those whom i love the most – my family.
I’m thankful that my daughter, a chef, will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. All I’ll have to do is clean up! I’ve been blessed with talented kids!
Thanks for your honesty, Sarah. It’s helped me.
I am so very thankful that my husband – who has been “anti-religion” since the day I met him – has found a path towards God through Jesus and the Catholic Church. He is planning to be confirmed in the spring and I am beyond grateful for that miracle!
I am thankful for my family. They are the most impotant thing to me.
Honestly, I am thankful for God walking into my mess and turning it into beauty, despite the pain I and my family have had to walk through. Not just for me, but for my husband and children. I am in awe at how He has moved in our lives, especially the last few months. And we are walking into this Thanksgiving and Christmas season with a precious love for and gratefulness to our Savior.
I am so excited to see what He does this next year as my children grown up in Christ and my husband and I move past just laying a foundation in Christ and actually living out our faith and passion for others.
I am thankful for lungs to breathe, legs to run on, an imagination to create with, arms to hug and gather ’round my friends and family, a husband to love, a home to care for and use to create moments, a church to serve in and reach those without hope through, and a God who loves me no matter how many times I stumble-trip on my way to him.
I’m thankful for the alone time that I had this weekend–it allowed me to re-center and be even more thankful for the 2 reasons that I so rarely have alone time–my husband and my son.
I am most thankful that the Lord never changes; even when everything else does.
I am eternally grateful to live in America. Seems cheesy, but true.
for my husband and health and that God is patient
For the little daily joys – a vanilla latte, tender kissed from my daughter, my favorite blue ballpoint pen and rays of sunshine streaming into my office.
I’m thankful that my 14 week old daughter gave me her first smile today!
I’m thankful for the situation I’ve been put in. Even though it’s really hard, and there are some days when I just want OUT, I know it’s for the best. It’s only going to make me stronger.
I’m thankful for where I live – the region, the town, the block, the house. I love the rural area which brings sweet surprises in landscape and wildlife (nothing like seeing a big buck with it’s huge rack standing by the side of the road to both amaze you and get your blood rushing). I love the slow easy pace of small town life, being able to leave my keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked. I love being close to family, I love my neighbors, and I love the home God gave us to make our own, with it’s ridiculously low payment. I wouldn’t mind some kitchen cabinets, but I’m not being picky.
I’m thankful that God has his arms around me, even in the times I can’t feel them.

I am thankful for my family, even in the tough times. I am so thankful we have both kept our jobs when so many around us have lost theirs!

I am thankful when God surprises me with how He touches me with the kindness of others: their words, their actions, their touch. All of them give me great reason to be thankful..
A friend of ours came out of two days of infection induced coma. Before his family could celebrate, The doctor told him and his family that he is now a quadraplegic. From healthy, “supporting the family,” father of two girls, to paralyzed from his neck down in one week of illness. I’ve been pondering, hurting, praying, seeking all day. I’m thankful for the ability to feel and move my body today – the same body that was so imperfect yesterday!
I am so thankful for my two month old son! He is a gift, a joy, and an adventure. I’m so thankful to be sharing the journey with my husband Jon.
Wow! Great giveaway. I am thankful for life. I am thankful that I am alive and can experience everything that each day brings my way!
I am thankful for God’s repeated forgiveness. And right now I am thankful for the quiet moment to do some blog reading.
Coffee.
I’m so very thankful for redemption. I have done some pretty ugly things in my life – hurting others through words and action, gossiped, lied, gave away innocence before it was time – and yet God has forgiven me, and not only that, He has redeemed my past for something beautiful today. I am not worthy and will never be, but I am thankful and will daily choose to follow my Lord and Savior the best I know how.
I am so very thankful for our 3 beautiful boys! Last thanksgiving, we had 2 boys and no plans for a 3rd child. God knew better and blessed us this year with another little peanut. He makes our family and home complete. Oh, and like the previous commenter, coffee!
Always thankful for coffee!!!
I LOVE Lisa Leonard’s pieces! I’m with you… a simple girl so her jewelry is glamorous to me!
