This California Girl

OKforecast

Do you think this California girl will be able to handle 12 degrees Fahrenheit in Oklahoma City this weekend?

And do you think this California girl will be okay when the plane will probably have to de-ice during our layover in Denver?

Yeah. I’ll be fine.

I was fine when I went to visit Mandy in Boston last October. Brrr.

Because finally, after two years, I finally get to meet Cindy Beall.

Cindy and Chris Beall have a similar story to Chad’s and mine (except flip-flopped) and I finally get to meet her this weekend. This trip has been planned for half a year and…

I. Can’t. Wait. To. Hug. Her.

So today, I’m packing up the kids to spend time at my mom’s, making sure the housesitter knows to bring in the mail, and getting on a plane with my husband headed for Oklahoma City.

(The last time I was there was when I drove across the country in the back of my parents’ Chevy in between the fourth and fifth grades. I’m pretty sure it’s still flat and windy.)

Why? To spend time with a friend as good as any I know in person but I’ve never put my arms around her neck.

If you’ve never read Cindy’s blog, please hop over there. You’ll realize why this California girl loves that Oklahoma girl (or Texas?) so much.

Who do you want to hug in person you’ve never met?

We’ll try to twitter as much as possible.  Follow us:

Chad

Cindy

Chris (but Chad says he never updates, so we’ll see…)

Hi recently found your site and have fallin in love with your honesty and heart. I have prayed for you as you have opened my eyes to areas to pray for in my own marriage. I tought of you the other night when I had called home to share exciting news with my husband, because it was something that had no meaning to him he blew me off. It hurt BAD, I got MAD, but then I started thinking….how many times have I done this to him, how badly had I hurt him, how careless had I been with his feelings. I so want God to change me. Thanks for sharing your life.

Beth Moore-Holy Spirit uses her to move me to places I might have never gone otherwise and I absolutely LOVE that woman.
Blessings and prayers go with you on your journey-can’t wait to see what God has in store for you.

now, i know you know it will be cold in oklahoma–but take it from a girl who went to college there–it will be colder than you think if it’s windy. because when you’re in oklahoma, the wind DOES, in fact, come sweeping down the plains. as in it will be blowing in your face regardless of which direction you’re walking, so take heed and bundle up. have fun! (try johnnie’s if you get the chance.)

    Have a wonderful trip!!!

I would love to give Nicole a hug – she’s an awesome friend who has had cancer and been in the hospital for nearly a year now. I hope to meet her someday.

12 degrees… that is like a heat wave! ;) It has been FRIGID here the past few days… 4 degrees during the day negatives at night. Have a wonderful trip!!

I think it is so neat that you get to finally meet a friend in person. I have never met any of the (in)courage group and I would love to meet and hug each and every one! :)

  9. Cindy Beall says:

    I get to meet you.

I’d also like to meet Alece, Mandy, Tam, Brandi, Lori and Jenni.

There are more but those are near the top.

It’s below zero here in MN today, so enjoy the warm weather in OK. :)

  11. Kels says:

Well… just be glad you are not visiting Saskatchewan these days. 2 Weeks ago we were still in our fall jackets and now we are all bundled up in -40 degrees Celsius (with a windchill) weather. Don’t worry sometimes cold is fun!

God bless on your travels and have an amazing weekend

I would really like to hug Lisa Leonard and Stephanie Nielson. I have followed their blogs for quite some time now and in different ways they inspire me, humble me and make me want to be a better person.

Thats so neat. I pray you have a wonderful time. I’d like to meet at taraleighcobble, at grovesroad (sarah) or at itschristablack. I think a cup of coffee & a hug around the neck would do wonders. sometimes just sharing with someone can infuse motivation to do what God has called you to do.

cant wait to hear about your trip. i read her blog and she seems like a great person
