What have I learned from sitting by a borrowed lake all weekend without my phone or computer?
I’ve learned that vacation (newly dubbed CARB-cation or I-don’t-care-cation) is best experienced from pajama pants and bathing suits. I’ve learned that flip-flops or no flops at all are the preferable choice for my feet.
I’m learning that many adult hands and eyes make watching children light work; and that older kids are great help with my younger ones.
I’ve learned that
Friends can pick up where they left off a year ago,
Calories DO count on Maycation but that they are best left worried about until next week,
Mountain air and mountain water tastes better than anything at sea level,
and that the rest of the house can look like an American Girl bomb went off, but if the kitchen is clean it’s all good.
I’ve learned that 11 am isn’t too early for my nap.
My heart feels full, my shoulders are a little pink and I’ve stayed up way too late 3 nights in a row. But I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.
I’ve gotten out of the habit of checking my phone because it’s sitting on a side table quietly telling me …No Service. I’m pretty sure I’m okay with that. And I think I might just leave it there until we drive home tomorrow.
And I learned that Maycation is fun spent anywhere, even at home, but the best place to be is in the middle of friends and family.
What did you do for your Maycation?

We went to San Diego. Stayed in Little Italy. Enjoyed tasty pizza, Tiramisu that was so good it made me exclaim Jesus take me now, a divine little Italian baked puffed pancake, time with friends, meeting Alece & Heidi (Cassgirl), enjoying the warm sun on the water at Seaport Village with the most amazing man that I’m blessed to call husband.
i heard you guys had a great time. =)
My absolute favorite memories in the world are going to the lake with my family. We’d go every Sunday skiing for the day, but for a whole week over the 4th of July we’d stay in a cabin with family friends of ours. Lounging in swimsuits, eating dessert for breakfast, skiing, swimming, reading, sleeping.
Truly the best days of my life. Your kids will remember this. I promise.
um, i have no idea who would eat a cinnamon roll and a chocolate chip cookie for breakfast. i have NO idea.
i love all of those same things. every single day.
)
i love being here with you. it was exactly what my soul needed to refresh and renew. i might be physically tired but emotionally it is all good.
i have no idea who would eat cookies in the morning. i know you haven’t even had one cookie or cinnamon roll all weekend.
i also like light tan and “poopies”
Sounds heavenly…
the only thing we are missing is you and alece =)
We went bowling, went a church potluck and had friends over twice to cook-out on our new grill. It was such a wonderful weekend!
We went to the lake with friends. Lounging and watching my children reminded me how busy we really get and how rarely I stop to watch them learn and play. I am totally with you not being attached to the cell phone, computer, wii, tv or whatever other distractions find us in our normal day to day was AMAZING! I am so blessed to have a wonderful family to enjoy. Here’s to many more relaxing weekends to come.
Rhi made herself one good song in Only Girl. I could surely tell that Ri-Ri has got a hit album upcoming and I’ll surely download her album!
