Grand Adventure and Giveaway

I was thinking about something over the weekend. A lot of you have been around this blog since last August when I went public with the story of my marriage. It’s been one year this month.

{If you don’t know what I’m talking about, click here}

So much has happened in the last 12 months that I can’t even begin to explain it all today on a Monday morning. Last summer, on the Sunday night before the first story post went up, I was so nervous I’d made myself sick. I asked Chad to pray for me, for us, for this whole thing.

He prayed for me and as he prayed he thanked God for the adventure we were about to take.

“I’d never thought about it that way,” I told him when he was done.

It’s proven to be true. The last year has been an adventure, to say the least, and something tells me it’s only the beginning of a grander one on the horizon.

So thank you. YOU! For coming along with me on this adventure, for loving me, for interacting with me, for reading me. Thank you for walking this crazy road with me.

My good friend Lisa is also a fellow adventurer. I wrote a short article about her {that when it’s published I’ll be sure to share with you} called “When I Grow Up”. And it’s true: there’s something about her that makes me want to see the creative swirl beneath the simplicity of life and just be a better friend. When I grow up, I want to be just like her.

In honor of our grand adventures as friends and in the grand adventure we all take together on this blog, I (we) are giving something away today. To enter, leave a comment in the comment section before 9pm Wednesday night about a GRAND ADVENTURE you’ve already taken or one you intend to take.

Chosen randomly the winner will receive $50 IN ONLINE STORE CREDIT to Lisa Leonard Designs.

I have gone on so many adventures in my life being born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate I have had Manu surgeries as a young child. Grew up a normal person though! I met my Hubby my junior year in high school almost 4 years ago and we had grown to know so much about each other and we just got married two weeks ago! Many more years and a child along the way ahead! But I went to high school with this dream of becoming a veterinarian and it could never happen because I didn’t have much of an extracurricular background. So my church called me one day and said they were looking for a helper for the beginning of a new preschool they started now 3 years ago. I thought maybe God is calling me to do something else? So I have been working here and became a preschool teacher for toddlers. Now I still have this gut feeling that I still want to work with animals. So my big adventure awaits. I want to go back to school to at least be a vet tech or vet assistant and still also work with children here at my wonderful church. So God is leading me to my next big adventure :)

My grand adventure is trying to balance raising my kids, running my own little business, and deciding if I should grow the little business into something more. ????

My grand adventure the past year was homeschooling my kids. It has been very challenging, but also so rewarding!

My grand adventure began 23 years ago when I accepted a job as a registered nurse in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Caring for critically ill children and their families has been the most rewarding yet, most challenging career ever. I am inspired EVERY time I walk into work for my 12 hour night shift. I have so much admiration and respect for those I work with on my team and those I care for……it an adventure to say the least, but a GRAND one.
    Thank you
    Best ..Shauna

I began a grand adventure of recovery a little over three years ago. With the help of a woman I barely knew, I faced the wreckage that was left in the wake of sexual abuse. I’ve seen God take the scarred and mangled mess that I was, and make something beautiful of it.

My grand adventure is very similar to yours and I have been so richly blessed by reading of your journey. I can’t begin to explain how God has spoken to me through your story and blog. My husband and are I currently experiencing a total renewal of our family and have a love unlike anything we experienced during the first years of our marriage. Our lives now look nothing like they did a few years ago and I am tremendously grateful for that. There’s a lot to be said for falling in love for a second time with my husband and each of us choosing the other, despite the pain and hurt we experienced. God’s grace is amazing. We have a 4 year old daughter and are expecting baby #2 in a couple of months. I am so thankful to be where I am now and to know that I’m not the only woman to have been broken but healed so amazingly. Thanks for your story.

I hope I am in time! with the time difference I can never tell…

I found a website this morning with a new type of tour. they call it a world odyssey and it’s like an Amazing Race style game (I’m assuming with less gross food challenges) where you pair up and do challenges and games that take you all over the world, unless you need a specific visa you don’t know what countries you will be visiting with any more than roughly which regions you will be going to. The whole thing sounds so exciting and the winner gets a week long vacation in Vanuatu at the end of it.

I don’t know if i’d ever get the opportunity to go on that trip (it’s a month long tour) but if there ever was a grand adventure I would want to take part in, that would be it!

I am beginning my third grand adventure, as I’m currently pregnant with our third child… of course, our first and second adventures are still going full blast and getting more exciting every day!

My grand adventure is just beginning! I’m a new and single mom and want to stay at home with my daughter. I just lost my job and am hoping to start an online business soon! EEEK!

  13. My Grand Adventure begins in two and a half weeks.

I will move away from home.
I will move away from family.
I will move to a new country.

My husband was accepted to a school in the United States. I will follow him there. Even though everything about this SHOULD make me scared, I feel a total peace because I feel so confident that this is where the Lord is leading us. After having so many windows being shut, doors are finally flying open before us.

I am a true Mommy’s girl. Moving in with my husband and out of my parents home caused me great home sickness, even though I was only an hour away. I still talk on the phone with Mom everyday. So moving to a whole new country for me is a great act of faith.

Our adventure. Him and I. Stepping out on our own, into a whole new world. Where we need to find a new church, new friends and stand firm on our feet. Follow the path that Jesus wants to lead us on.

    I am so excited!

My site covers a lot of the same subjects as yours and I feel we could greatly benefit from each other. If you might be interested feel free to send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Excellent blog by the way!
