Under the Team Compassion banner, these wonderful people and I are going to be running the San Diego Rock and Roll Half Marathon on Sunday, June 5. Yep, this weekend. We’ve been training this spring and raising money to help release children from poverty through Compassion International.
My name is Lindsey Nobles. For the last few years, I have trained and run the Country Music Marathon. This year as soon as I realized I have a conflict the weekend of the Country Music Half Marathon, I began looking for another race to run. A little google search and I stumbled upon the Rock N’ Roll San Diego Half Marathon on June 5. But I still needed a cause to run for. I choose Compassion International because I traveled to Guatemala them with last September and love the work they do around the world to free children from poverty in Jesus’ name. I live in Nashville with my dog Molly. I work at Thomas Nelson and go to Crosspoint Church.
Hi! My name is Christine Rogers. This will be my second half-marathon, and I feel privileged to be a part of Team Compassion. Children hold a special place in my heart. I am a teacher. I started out teaching swim lessons at 15. After receiving my teaching credential at UC Riverside, I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade for the last 12 years. I am also married to my wonderful husband, David, and we have two kids of our own, Jacob (5) and Matthew (18 mos.). It is so exciting to know that children around the world will be supported by this cause, most importantly in Jesus’ name!
My name is Jessica Sesma. I am a San Diego native and Children’s Ministry director at Rancho Vista Church. I have run some of the other half marathons in San Diego in the past but took a break from running for the past couple of years. While I was thinking about getting back into it, I saw the post about the running Rock ‘N’ Roll for Compassion on Lindsey’s blog, and knew right away I was in! I’m excited to run for a purpose and can wait to meet everyone on the team!
My name is Melissa. I was born and raised in San Diego. I currently work for a local parking company to pay the bills, but know my true calling is to ultimately work for some sort of non-profit, that serves the local community. I’ve always heard that the rock n roll marathon was so much fun, but never had the desire to run so far….I have a few half marathons under my belt and thought I was done running for good… until I saw Sarah’s blog about the opportunity to run for Compassion… with some gentle prodding from my sister, (who joined the team right away) I decided to make it a great challenge for this year. I’ve only ever run for my own personal goals before, but am excited to be running this year for a great cause!
My name is Lauren, and I’m a twenty-something living in the heart of North Carolina with a penchant for Tex-Mex, ACC basketball, and all things Carolina blue. I am a daughter, sister, and a ridiculously loyal friend who loves big and laughs loud. While running is new to me, I have quickly discovered the rewards of pushing the limits of physical endurance while enjoying time alone with God on the trail. I am a speech-language pathologist by trade but a writer at heart. I love to travel and would live on a plane if I could treat patients from the air. Orphan care is a passion of mine, as I was, for a brief moment, an orphan myself. Adopted at five-weeks, I grew up in a household living out the belief that adoption is love. While I support my Compassion child monetarily and with prayer, I consider myself most blessed to share life with him. I believe there is complete beauty in brokenness and long to live authentically. I candidly blog about the realities of my journey at beautifully broken {lesykes.wordpress.com}.
My name is Scott Whittle and I am from Charlotte, NC. I am President and CEO, Southeast Equipment Service. Husband of 15.5 years, father of 3, guy who motivates both Little Leaguers and grown-up audiences of believers, sometime runner, lives for the lake, Starbucks enthusiast. Running for Compassion to give back something to an organization that has blessed our family…to sow back into lives that matter to Jesus.
Thank you to ALL runners and to ALL of the hundreds of people who’ve joined our team by donating.
